Primroses
Primroses are easy to grow, with a long flowering season that lasts from late winter to late spring. The cheerful jewel like flowers form compact low mounds of colour under their attractive dark green foliage. Over the centuries breeders hybridised the native primrose with foreign species to produce single flowers in just about every colour imaginable. The image of a primrose in flower is permanently linked with spring. Very versatile, primroses look impressive mass planted in borders, or all sorts of containers, including window boxes, pond margins and also naturalised in rough lawns.
