If you are wanting to grow your own tasty fruit, but have limited garden space, this fabulous columnar Apple 'Bolero' is a perfect choice for you.

Ideal for small gardens and patio pots, this compact tree is a superb way to grow your own delicious cherries especially when you have very limited space in the garden. This columnar tree has been developed to grow in a compact and upright way without any branches. That allows the fruit to grow naturally close to the main stem, so picking is quick and simple, handy for snacking.

This 'Bolero' Apple tree provides a beautiful spring display of blossom that is then followed by sweet, crisp, and juicy, medium sized apples ready to pick from September. This columnar tree is Self-fertile and will reach a height of 2m in 5 years. Delivered as a bare root tree, ready to plant out.

CARE INFORMATION

Top Tips

  • Keep well-watered, and if growing in a pot, use a good quality, soil-based compost.

Care Guide

  • On receipt, soak the roots in water for at least two hours (overnight is better). If you can't plant straight away, they should be fine for up to a week if left in a cool, dark, frost-free place - keep the bag around the roots with some water inside.
  • Dig a hole twice the width of the roots, forking over the bottom to loosen the soil, and add some good quality fertiliser such as Blood Fish & Bone (wash your hands afterwards!).
  • Aim to plant at the same depth as the soil mark on the trunk.
  • Holding the tree or plant upright in position with one hand, slowly backfill the hole with soil, and gently shake the plant, so the soil falls back around the roots.
  • Use your heel to compact the soil around the plant to ensure good contact around the roots.
If you're planting into pots, place some old rocks, stones or gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage and ballast.
  • No special pruning is required, but If side branches form, remove them in winter.
