Description

Sensational 'Pineberry' strawberry plants with a unique flavour and style, now appearing in top supermarkets and restaurants. Experience a burst of strawberry flavour followed by tropical notes and a delightful aroma. These juicy fruits are more intensely flavoured than red strawberries, with a subtle pineapple aftertaste. Their striking appearance features creamy white flesh and red seeds - a reversed image of a typical red strawberry.

Flowering in May, before producing fruit from June. Their unusual colouring deters birds, and planting with another strawberry variety will boost yields.

Supplied as a set of 10 strawberry runners.

Top Tips
If you are planting in pots, use a well-draining potting mix and make sure the pots have drainage holes.
Care Information
  • Where possible, plant strawberry runners in late summer or early autumn to give time for the roots to establish before the winter chills. You can also plant them in early spring, but they may not produce fruit in their first year.
  • Strawberries need at least 6 hours of sunlight per day so plant in a sunny spot of the garden.
  • These prefer well-drained, fertile soil with a pH between 6.0 and 6.5. Enrich the soil with compost or other organic matter to improve drainage.
  • Dig holes that are large enough to accommodate the roots of the runners, spacing each 30-45cm apart.
  • The crown of the plant, which is the point where the roots meet the stem, should be level with the soil surface. Planting too deep can cause the crown to rot, while planting too shallow can cause the plant to dry out.
  • Gently spread the roots out in the hole before filling it with soil, then firm the soil around the base of the plant to remove air pockets.
  • Water the newly planted runners well to settle the soil and encourage root growth.
