Description

The Patio Cherry 'Piemont' is a revelation! A self-fertile Prunus avium sweet cherry, it produces heavy, reliable crops of shiny, deep red dessert cherries - sweet, juicy, and bursting with real flavour, ripening from July onwards.

Plus, one tree is genuinely all you need! No pollination partner and no orchard. Its naturally compact habit makes it ideal for a large container on a sunny, sheltered patio, balcony, or terrace, or for planting into fertile, well-drained soil in a warm spot in the garden.

Before the fruit arrives, each spring brings a glorious cloud of white blossom - stunning to look at and irresistible to bees and pollinators. A light summer prune after fruiting keeps the tree healthy and reduces disease risk.

Top Tips

Cover the cherry tree with nylon mesh or netting to prevent birds from stealing your crops - they will eat most of your cherry crop if you do not stop them.
Add Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi to give your plants a head start and establish faster.

Care Information

Best grown in moderately fertile soil in full sun.
If grown in pots keep well watered.
Apply a low-nitrogen fertiliser such as 5-10-10 in early spring, about a month before flowering.
Prune young cherry trees during winter dormancy to shape them into an open center or central leader shape.
Mature trees will just need a simple prune to remove dead or crossing branches or to open up the center or maintain shape.
Train fan-trained trees in spring. Prune established fans and carry out routine pruning on established cherry trees when harvesting the fruits in summer.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
