Description

Raspberries usually produce their fruit on the previous year's growth. However, they are often sold in garden centres cut back as short canes. Great value, perhaps, but this means waiting an extra year for fruit.

With these long canes, you will get fruit this summer because they have not been cut back!

Enjoy deliciously sweet, juicy, bright red fruits throughout July and August. Expect around a pound of fruit per cane for the next 4-5 years, produced along the full length of the nearly spine-free canes.

Grow them in rows or train them into a wigwam shape in a large tub to maximise your crops, even where space is limited.

Fully deserving of its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, this is a proven garden performer well suited to UK gardeners at every level of experience. Care Information

Planting Advice for Raspberries:

Plant raspberries roughly 50cm apart in rows, along walls or fences or in beds where further support from posts can be used.
They can also be grown in large pots (40cm+ diameter) on your patio, balcony, terrace and more.
Select an appropriate spot for your plants, making sure that you give them enough space to grow to their full size.
For best results, plant in a sunny but sheltered position.
Soak canes in water for a couple of hours before planting to wake them up from dormancy.
Dig a hole with enough room for the roots to spread. If you�re planting multiple bushes, it�s easiest to dig a trench.
Whether you�re planting bare-root or potted plants, keep the crown of the plant 1 or 2 inches above the ground - raspberries hate to be buried too deeply.
Fork over the bottom to loosen the soil and add some good quality fertiliser such as Blood Fish & Bone.
Holding the plant upright in position with one hand, slowly backfill the hole with soil, and gently shake the plant, so the soil falls back around the roots.
Firm in and water well.

Aftercare Advice for your raspberries:

A thick mulch will conserve moisture and suffocate weeds. Keep a thick layer of mulch around the plants at all times.
Water daily from spring until after harvest. Regular watering is better than infrequent deep soaking.
Remove any suckers (canes that grow well away from the rows) to prevent them taking valuable nutrients away from the main plant.
Cut down any raspberry canes that have already fruited in November, leaving long canes for the following year's bigger crops.

Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
