Description

Enjoy a season of long-lasting colour from this compact plant. Lewisia 'Sunset Glow' is a recent introduction, and it's ready to make an impression in your garden!

This hardy perennial forms a low, tidy mound that becomes smothered in star shaped blooms from early spring until the first frosts. At just 15cm tall and spreading to around 30cm, it fits beautifully into rockeries, gravel beds and troughs.

Once established, it is fully hardy and copes well with dry conditions and needs very little maintenance. The key is simple - give it full sun and free draining compost, and avoid wet conditions in winter.

Its dense flowering habit means you enjoy repeat displays for months, not weeks. The open blooms are attractive to pollinators, while the evergreen foliage keeps structure at ground level.

Supplied as a set of three jumbo plug plants, ready to grow on and plant out.

Top Tips

Surround the base of the plant with gravel to prevent water sitting in the crown.

Care Information

Planting Advice for your Lewisias:

Grow on plug in post of well-draining compost for 4-6 weeks before planting out.
If planting in the garden border, spread a two-inch layer of grit on top of the soil and dig it into the top six inches to improve drainage.
Dig a hole roughly the same diameter as the pot your plant is in.
Remove your Lewisia from its pot and tease apart any roots which are spiralling round.
Lower the plant into the planting hole and backfill with the original soil, gently firming it around the plant.
If you�re growing them in a container, ensure that the container has adequate holes for drainage. Most alpines like a neutral or slightly alkaline soil.
Add a well-draining compost mix and plant as above.
A layer of coarse gravel on top of the soil will help prevent the neck of the plant getting too damp.
Water well.

Aftercare Advice for your Lewisia:

Once you�ve planted your Lewisia, water it thoroughly.
Remove or trim any dead leaves in the autumn.
Move the container to an area that�s in a 'rain shadow', such as beneath house eaves, for winter.

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.
