Description

Give your sunny patio or gravel garden an instant Mediterranean lift with one of the most decorative and distinctive types of lavender.

Unlike the narrow flower spikes associated with English lavender, Lavender stoechas produces broad, pinecone-shaped blooms topped with colourful upright bracts. Often described as rabbit ears, these showy tufts give the plant an exotic appearance that looks particularly striking when displayed in a patio container.

Its compact, bushy habit makes it easy to place in smaller gardens, along sunny path edges or towards the front of a warm border. The evergreen foliage is strongly aromatic when touched, releasing a sharper, herbal scent that adds to its Mediterranean character.

Flowers begin appearing in late spring and can continue in repeated flushes through summer when faded heads are removed. Bees and other visiting pollinators are naturally drawn to the nectar-rich blooms.

With its bold silhouette, long seasonal interest and manageable growth, this is a wonderful way to enjoy lavender with a more flamboyant look.

Supplied as an established plant in a 2 litre pot, ready to plant.

Top Tips
Enjoy a second flush of flowers by cutting back once the first wave of blooms fade.
