Description

The rare and beautiful Daphne 'Perfume Princess’ represents a genuine breeding breakthrough and has earned multiple awards from horticultural experts.

This exceptional variety produces remarkably long-lasting, intensely fragrant flowers, with blooms larger than those of any other Daphne. The powerful perfume carries beautifully through the garden, bringing welcome scent to patios, paths and borders.

The flowers open in a rich mid-pink before gradually fading to white, creating an attractive two-tone effect as the display develops. The scented stems can also be cut and enjoyed indoors.

'Perfume Princess' is straightforward to grow and performs beautifully in garden borders or patio containers. It is also considered easier to establish and maintain than many traditional Daphne varieties.

Fully winter hardy and well suited to gardens throughout the UK, this outstanding evergreen shrub will provide colour, foliage and fragrance for years to come.

Supplied as an established plant in a 13cm pot, ready to plant.

Important: Contact with the foliage may irritate the skin, wear protective equipment when handling. All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested.

Top Tips
  • Daphnes are best planted near paths and doorways or at the front of borders where their delicious fragrance can be enjoyed.
Care Information
  • Plants will thrive in sun or part-shade with well-drained soil. They don't like dry roots, so water regularly and deeply.
  • Daphne will establish best if planted when the soil is warm between March and October.
  • Dig a hole twice the width of the rootball. Sprinkle in a handful of blood, fish and bone and work into the ground.
  • If your soil is heavy add plenty of well rotted compost to the area and dig it in well. Horticultural sand/grit added to the mix is also beneficial, especially if you have heavy clay.
  • Place the plant into the hole, back-filling so that it is at the same depth as was in the pot. Fill around the root ball and firm the soil down gently but firmly. Water well.
  • Where necessary after flowering, lightly trim to remove misplaced branches and maintain a compact habit, otherwise a quick clear-up of fallen leaves will suffice.
  • Daphne are known to have a delicate root structure, so take extreme care when removing this from its nursery pot, as the top plant can sometimes detach from the roots.
