Description

Colour-changing foliage and a springtime flurry of pale pink blossom – this Japanese ornamental tree is sure to impress in any garden. Not just a treat for the eyes, pink double flower clusters with yellow eyes also release a floral aroma.

Young leaves are bronze, before evolving to a summertime green, then fading to a seasonal shade of red to soft orange in autumn. Cherry Trees are hardy, easy to care for, and will require very little attention once planted and established.

This narrow and deciduous tree looks right at home even when garden space is limited, while it can also be planted in a row to produce a natural screen.

Fully deserving its coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, you can be sure this is a proven garden performer, guaranteed to be suitable for UK gardeners at every level of experience. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as an established tree at 70-80cm tall, in a 5 litre pot, ready for planting.

Top Tips
Best planted in autumn, from October to November choose a sheltered location (to protect the blossom when it emerges in the spring).
Care Information
  • Dig a square hole as deep as the roots and approximately 1.5x as wide.
  • Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the planting hole to help the plant establish quicker.
  • Spread the roots gently and place into the planting hole.
  • Mix well rotted compost or manure with the soil taken from the hole and then use to backfill around the tree.
    Keep well-watered until established.
  • Keep the area free of competing weeds and protect the tree with a rabbit guard if necessary to protect your young cherry tree.
  • Pruning your tree is not usually necessary unless you need to remove damaged or broken branches.
