Description

Camellia 'Brushfield's Yellow' brings calm confidence to the spring garden. It is not loud or brash. Instead, it offers elegance, reliability and a flowering display that rewards gardeners year after year.

From April into May, large anemone style blooms open in abundance. Each flower combines crisp white outer petals with a softly ruffled yellow centre that stands out beautifully against dark, glossy evergreen foliage. The contrast is striking yet refined, making this shrub feel special without ever being fussy.

Evergreen leaves provide structure through winter, while its natural tolerance of partial shade makes it ideal for tricky garden positions. It performs just as well in borders as it does in large patio pots, where it becomes a genuine talking point.

Fully hardy and long lived, 'Brushfield's Yellow' matures into a generous shrub reaching around 4 metres tall over time. It is a plant that improves with age, settling in, thickening up and flowering more heavily each spring.

For gardeners who want dependable performance, year round structure and a truly beautiful spring moment, this camellia delivers quietly impressive results.

Supplied as an established plant in a 5 litre pot, ready to plant.

Top Tips
Be sure to deadhead Camellias when the flowers appear to start fading. This will not boost flowering the following growing season, but will avoid an unsightly browning flower from ruining your display.
Care Information
  • For best results, plant in moist and well-drained, neutral, or acidic soil in a space that is partially shaded, with some shelter from chilling winds.
  • Plant in autumn when the soil is still warm. This will help roots to establish before the harsh winter conditions set in.
  • When planting multiple Camellia, space at least 3-5m apart to allow ample room to establish.
  • Prior to planting, prepare the ground by clearing away any weeds, where necessary, and digging over the area to prime for planting.

Watering

  • Camellias should be watered regularly when newly planted, particularly for the first 18 months or so.
  • Keep the soil moist, checking if the soil is dry at a depth of roughly 10cm. If this soil is dry, then water the plant well.
