Description

Introduce instant height, colour and impact to your garden with this Braided Stem Hibiscus 'Tricolour' Standard, a striking patio tree formed from three flowering Hibiscus varieties braided together into one elegant standard tree.

The braided stem gives the plant a smart, sculptural look, while the rounded head produces blooms in pink, white and blue from July to September. It is a brilliant way to bring late summer colour to the garden.

The standard form makes it especially useful for patios, entrances, sunny borders and large containers. It adds height without taking over, giving smaller spaces a dressy, designer feel. Plant one as a feature, or use a pair to frame a doorway, path or seating area.

Hibiscus syriacus performs best in a warm, sunny position and responds well to regular feeding through the growing season. A light annual trim will help keep the head neat and encourage a balanced shape.

Supplied as an established standard, 1.1-1.4m tall, in a 23cm pot. Please note, this plant is deciduous and may be supplied dormant with no leaves from October to March.

Top Tips
  • Feed weekly in spring and summer with balanced feed with micronutrients...
Care Information
  • Hibiscus are also known as the Rose of Sharon. They grow well in average soil and once established require little care - even withstanding periods of drought.
  • It also tolerates summer heat and humidity.
  • Grow in a sheltered spot in full sun with a humus-rich moist soil, keep well-watered as these plants don't like to dry out.
  • Happy in a large container as long as you keep it well-watered. Protect the crown with a dry mulch through the winter months.
  • Trim any dead or damaged growth each year in mid spring and remove faded flowers.
  • Hibiscus flower on the current season's growth, so pruning encourages them to flower prolifically.
  • Hibiscus can be bare of leaves right up until May, so don't think that your plant has expired - keep it well watered and it will burst into life when ready!
