Space is no longer a reason to miss out on the drama of a dark flowered Buddleia - and this is one of the darkest! 'Little Blackberry' reaches only 90cm high and 80cm wide, forming a naturally rounded, well-branched shrub that fits neatly into a patio pot, narrow border or smaller garden.

From that compact framework rise generous plumes in an exceptionally deep purple, so dark that they appear almost black. It has the darkest flower colour in the Butterfly Candy series, bringing depth and contrast alongside brighter flowers and paler foliage.

This very floriferous shrub is built to carry an abundant display, while the flowers' sweet fragrance adds another dimension. Butterflies and bees find the blooms appealing too, helping the garden feel busier and more alive while supporting greater biodiversity.

Plant it in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It also grows well in a container with good drainage, making it easy to position where the dark flowers can be admired at close quarters.

Check the compost regularly during dry spells and water before it dries out completely. With hardiness down to -18C, it combines refined proportions with reassuring resilience.

Top Tips

Buddleia plants are low maintenance, but they do benefit from pruning in early spring to maintain a nice compact plant.

Care Information

Plant Buddleia in garden borders in any moist, well drained garden soil, in full sun or semi-shade.
Ideal for planting in patio containers using soil-based compost.
Prune Buddleia in March, once the hardest frosts are over, as the new growth begins to show.
Firstly, remove any dead, diseased, damaged, or weak stems, before pruning all off the remaining stems back to form a low framework.
Drought tolerant once established.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
