Description

A 50th wedding anniversary is an exceptional achievement, and this commemorative rose provides a lasting way to celebrate it.

Rose 'Golden Wedding 50th Anniversary' produces glowing golden yellow flowers from early summer into autumn, creating a fitting reminder of five wonderful decades together. Rather than giving something that will soon be forgotten, friends and family can plant a living tribute that returns with fresh colour year after year.

The blooms are beautifully displayed against glossy green leaves and carry a delicate fragrance that can be appreciated whenever the plant is passed or admired. Some flowers can also be cut for a vase, bringing the celebration indoors without taking away from the overall garden display.

Growing to approximately 60cm tall and 45cm wide, this compact patio bush rose does not require a large garden. It can take pride of place in a container on the patio, brighten a sunny border or be planted near a favourite seating area where its flowers can be enjoyed throughout summer.

Its traditional golden colouring makes the connection with a Golden Wedding instantly recognisable, yet its value extends far beyond the anniversary itself. As the rose establishes and matures, each season of flowers creates another reminder of the couple, their celebration and the years they have shared.

Supplied as 1 bare root patio bush rose, ready to plant.

Top Tips
Add mycorrhizal fungi to the roots when planting to help the plant establish quicker.
Care Information

Bare Root Rose Planting Advice:

  • Roses can be planted at any time of the year, as long as the soil is not frozen, waterlogged or drought dry.
  • Plant your rose where it can get plenty of sun for at least half of the day, and where it will be sheltered from the wind.
  • Add plenty of well-rotted manure into the hole and plant so that the graft union (the swollen are when the stems meet the roots) is just below soil level.

Aftercare Advice:

  • Water well every other day - daily if the weather is hot and dry.
  • Established roses can be watered around once a week through spring and summer - more if the weather is hot.
  • For best results, feed roses in late-March/April and again in late July.

Pruning Advice:

  • To prune, just remove any dead, dying, damaged and diseased stems and also deadhead regularly.
  • Traditionally, you would cut just above a leaf joint with a sloping cut away from the bud, however, this isn't necessary, and don’t worry about pruning too much - roses are very resilient and will grow back.
  • When pruning, make sure that your secateurs are clean and sharp to prevent squashing stems and introducing disease.
