Description

Months of decorative colour, superb cut flowers and pollinator-friendly blooms make this Penstemon a brilliant border performer.

Penstemon 'Strawberries & Cream' brings a deliciously different look to sunny beds and borders, with upright spires of bell-shaped flowers in pale pink and white. The red and white striped throats give each bloom extra detail, creating a fresh, cottage garden display that stands apart from ordinary summer perennials.

This hardy perennial flowers generously over a long season, and it grows to around 75cm tall and 50cm wide, making it easy to place through mixed borders, wildlife-friendly planting and cutting gardens.

The sturdy stems make excellent cut flowers, while the blooms are also recommended by the RHS as a Plant for Pollinators, helping attract bees and butterflies into the garden. Easy to grow in well-drained soil, it performs well in sun or partial shade, with occasional deadheading helping to prolong the display.

Supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, ready to plant.

Cut back hard to just above new growth once it appears in spring.

Care Information

To plant, firstly water your potted plant well.
Dig a hole a little deeper and 3 x wider than the nursery pot.
Remove the plant from its pot and tease out some of the roots.
Place your plant in the hole at the same level at the pot then refill the hole with the earth removed.
Firm in the soil with your heel, avoiding the root ball and water well before adding a mulch around the base of the plant.
Water regularly and feed every two weeks with a high potash fertiliser.
Deadhead regularly to encourage more flowers.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
