Description

Create interest all summer long with this gorgeous blue flowering Geraniums.

Geranium 'Storm Cloud' will fill your garden with it's beautiful bluey-purple bloom from May to August each year.

Producing masses of eye-catching semi-double blooms that are guaranteed to impress everyone who sees them.

Each flower contrasts effortlessly with the dark foliage where they stand proudly on medium to long stems, making in an ideal choice for planting at the front of borders or in a large container.

This hardy perennial is easy to grow and will not disappoint when it comes into bloom. This Geranium will do well in both a sunny or partly shaded position in your garden, just plant it in some fertile and well-drained soil.

Requiring almost no maintenance, you can propagate them by cutting them back after they have flowered and then divide them in either early autumn or early spring.

Please note: The leaves of this deciduous variety will darken and naturally die back from autumn and over winter. Do not be alarmed if you receive your freshly potted plant in this state, as it will re-shoot with fresh growth in the following spring.

Top Tips
Snip off faded flowers at the base or shear the tops of the plants back to new growth in order to stimulate reblooming and freshen the foliage.
Care Information

Planting Advice:

  • Before planting, prepare the soil by digging over and removing any weeds. Incorporate some well-rotted manure to enrich the soil if necessary. Knock the plant from its container.
  • Look at the roots – if they are circling around the compost, it is best to tease them out. To do this, push your fingers into the root ball along the bottom edge and pull. Do this in a couple of places.
  • This should encourage the roots to spread into the surrounding soil.
  • Next use a trowel or spade to create a hole just deep and wide enough to set in the root ball.
  • The aim is to bury just the roots, leaving the bases of the stems (when in growth in summer) or the shoots (in spring) above ground.
  • Firm back around the soil, using your hand for small clumps and your heel on larger areas.
  • Water in well to settle the soil and prevent desiccation.

Aftercare Advice:

  • Prefers compost-enriched soil that stays moist. If planting straight out, keep well-watered until established.
  •  Geraniums are herbaceous perennials and are easy to grow and fuss free.
  • They need minimal maintenance and are also generally pest and disease resistant.
  • Once established, they're drought tolerant and even slugs, snails and rabbits leave them alone!
  • A haircut with shears after flowering is all the pruning that is required.
  • Doesn’t normally need dividing but plants can be split in spring or autumn if needed.
