Description

Three summer-flowering border perennials. These 'Uptick' Coreopsis boast enviously beautiful blooms in fiery shades, growing abundantly from compact and bushy plants through summer. See a distinctive colour on each flowerhead, edged in a contrasting shade of either red or yellow.

What’s more, these three varieties are all recommended by the RHS as 'Plants for Pollinators', due to an impressive ability to draw the attention of beneficial insects.

Supplied as 12 plug plants, including four each of:

  • Coreopsis 'Uptick Gold and Bronze' - Golden yellow flowers with bright bronzy red centres.
  • Coreopsis 'Uptick Red' - Dark red blooms with golden yellow tips and centres.
  • Coreopsis 'Uptick Yellow and Red' - Pale yellow flowers, each a rich burgundy towards the centre.
Top Tips
Deadhead plants regularly to extend the show of blooms throughout the whole summer.
Care Information

Planting Advice:

  • Grow in full sun in soil that drains well.
  • Unpack plugs immediately and stand them in water for an hour.
  • If you can’t do this, they can sit in their mini greenhouse for a week if upright and not too wet.
  • Plugs may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they’ll quickly recover.
  • Put them somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
  • When potting on, handle plugs carefully. Pot on using our 9cm pots in Shuttle Trays, using good multi-purpose compost.
  • Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry. They don’t like to be left in standing water.
  • Plant approx. 20cm apart to allow them room to grow.
  • Feed using a high-potash feed such as Blooming Fast Superior Soluble Fertiliser for Flowers & Fruits, to encourage flowering.

Aftercare Advice:

  • Coreopsis will need regular water when first planted out, until they are fully established. After that, they are quite drought tolerant.
  • Deadheading will keep the plants blooming throughout the summer.
  • Leave the stems on the plant for autumn and winter interest, before tiding up in late winter.
