Description

Alstroemeria 'Indian Summer' is a real show-off! Few hardy perennials deliver this much colour, contrast and cutting potential. The fiery orange and golden flowers rise above deep bronze-purple foliage.

'Indian Summer' has the polish of a cut flower and the garden strength of a reliable perennial, flowering from early summer into autumn once established. The blooms bring warmth and brightness to mixed borders, while the darker foliage adds depth even before the flowers open.

It is also excellent for cutting, so you can enjoy those vibrant stems indoors as well as outside. Snip a few for a vase and the plant will keep producing more, making it a brilliant choice for anyone who loves fresh flowers from their own garden.

Plant in a sunny or lightly sheltered spot in fertile, free-draining soil, or grow in a large patio container for a bold seasonal feature. Hardy, long-flowering and wonderfully distinctive.

Top Tips
When picking alstroemeria pluck the flowers rather than cutting as plucking stimulates the rhizome encourage further growth.
Care Information
  • When all risk of frost has passed, plant your Alstroemeria in a sunny or semi shaded position, or in patio containers in a soil-based compost.
  • Water 'Indian Summer' regularly and feed container-grown plants with a general-purpose feed each month.
  • In autumn, cut back old Alstroemeria flower stems and apply a dry mulch of chipped bark or straw to protect the rhizomes.
  • Although Alstroemeria prefers to be left undisturbed, large clumps can be divided in spring.
