How to Grow and Care for your Seeds

Sowing seed is pretty simple. Sow seeds indoors using the following method;

  • Choose trays that are 2-4 inches deep. It is best to get a tray with holes at the bottom so that the seeds can be drained but also watered from the bottom to avoid plant damage.
  • Fill your tray with rich compost, and leave the tray in water overnight to make sure the compost is moist.
  • Sow your seeds by firmly pressing them into the compost to the advised depth.
  • Spray tray with a mist of water, or with a light head on your watering can.
  • Keep the lights on until the seeds germinate.
  • If you are growing your seeds in a greenhouse place a fluorescent light above your trays.
  • Look out for the first set of true leaves, thin the seedlings if needed to the spacing recommended on the packet.
  • Transplant the seedlings to individual pots filled with potting soil when you see two or three sets of leaves.
  • Set each seedling in its pot carefully and firm the soil around the roots. Continue watering gently.
