Description

Why wait years to enjoy your first home-grown limes? This established Citrus Lime 'Tahiti' arrives with fruit already developing, bringing an instant taste of the Mediterranean to your patio, conservatory or home.

The glossy evergreen foliage creates an attractive year-round feature, while wonderfully fragrant white blossom appears in late spring and early summer. These flowers develop into smooth, juicy and virtually seedless limes, typically ready to harvest from October.

Freshly picked limes are incredibly versatile. Slice them into drinks, squeeze them over food or use the juice and zest in sauces, cakes and desserts. Growing your own means you can pick fruit exactly when you need it, straight from the tree.

Keep your lime tree in its pot and position it somewhere sunny and sheltered throughout the warmer months. Water regularly during active growth, allowing excess water to drain freely, and feed with a specialist citrus fertiliser according to the pack instructions.

Lime trees are not frost hardy, so move the plant into a bright conservatory, greenhouse or other frost-free space before temperatures fall. Keep it in good light through winter and reduce watering, without allowing the compost to dry out completely.

Supplied as an established lime tree in a 4 litre pot, approximately 70-90cm tall and already carrying fruit.

Top Tips
  • For best results, bring indoors to cool area for winter.
  • Feed with specialist feed every month in spring and summer growth - they are hungry fellows.
Care Information
  • The sweetly-fragranced flowers appear all year round, especially in late winter, and fruit ripens up to 12 months later - so plants are often in flower and fruiting at the same time.
  • Citrus tend not to thrive in centrally heated homes, so from mid-June to late September, give plants a treat and transfer them outside to make the most of the available sunshine - but remember they are not frost tolerant so will need bringing under cover if cold nights threaten.
  • Only minimal pruning is required to reshape or remove dead or damaged shoots.

Watering:

  • In summer, water freely - ideally using rainwater, while in winter you can reduce the amount - allowing the surface to partially dry out before watering again. Always allow excess water to drain away.
  • Our beautiful Mediterranean citrus trees are grown in a slightly heavier growing medium, so be sure to take care when watering. Be sure not to overwater, as with all your plants, but also make sure not to allow the soil to dry out.
