Description

A compact, hard-working cherry tomato that fits perfectly into even smaller garden spots and patio containers. 'Red Veranda' stays small and upright, yet produces an impressive number of fruits - up to 75 per plant!

The plant begins cropping early and continues steadily until autumn, giving you months of sweet, homegrown tomatoes. Each fruit is juicy, bright and full of flavour, with that classic cherry tomato sweetness we all love.

Because this is a bush variety, you avoid the usual tall canes and constant pinching out. It keeps its shape naturally and is very simple to grow on from a plug. The F1 breeding adds strength, consistency and dependable disease resistance, including useful tolerance to late blight. That means less worry and more picking, and enjoying!

This variety makes enjoying fresh tomatoes at home so simple. It performs reliably in pots, containers and hanging baskets, growing to around 45cm with a modest spread.

Top Tips

Fill in gaps in containers with sun-loving herbs such as basil or plant nasturtiums to trail over the sides. You could also add a pepper plant to the middle of your pot or basket for added height and interest.

Care Information

Planting Advice for Tomatoes:

Once the plants are 10cm tall, they can be planted in the hanging basket or container, ideally using one plant for each 25cm basket or three in a 35cm basket.
Tomatoes can be planted up into their containers from April onwards, and grown on for a couple of weeks before placing outside after hardening off. Cover plants with horticultural fleece on any unexpectedly cold nights.
Fill containers to within 2-3cm of the rim with moist compost - growing bag compost or our own professional compost is ideal.
Bury the roots deeply (up to first �seed� leaves on the stem) and water well, to settle the compost around them.
Place the containers in a sunny sheltered spot.

Aftercare Advice:

Water regularly to keep the compost moist - at least once a day in hot weather when the plants grow larger.
As soon as fruits start to form, feed the plants regularly with a liquid tomato food.
Remove old leaves as they yellow to let in light and air.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
