Description

'Beacon' is a fabulous variety of Busy Lizzie and is a great choice for filling your garden with long-lasting summer colour. A popular choice here in the UK, this is thanks to its ability to perform whatever the weather, come rain or shine and thrive in both the sun and shade. Producing blooms in a gorgeous mixture of pinks, reds and white, 'Beacon' has a semi-trailing habit and will look stunning cascading over the edges of containers and hanging baskets. Busy Lizzies are very easy to grow and are a perfect for planting in beds, borders, and patio pots where you can cover your garden in their fabulous flowers from May and keep flowering through to the first frost in November. Delivered as 24 plug plants, ready to grow on before planting out.

Top Tips

Deadhead faded blooms to prolong flowering.

Space plants out to keep them compact - the more tightly they are packed, the taller they will grow. 20-30cm (8-12in)

Care Information

For most jumbo plug plant collections, the �mini Greenhouse� they are packed in will have a label on the outside, listing the individual varieties inside. We recommend writing your own labels out on receipt!

Give your plugs a little attention on arrival - unpack them immediately, and either mist them or stand them in water for an hour - they may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they�ll quickly recover. If you can�t do this, they can sit in Mini Greenhouses for a week if upright and not too wet.
We recommend that you leave them to settle for a day somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.

When you're ready to pot on, use a good quality, multi-purpose compost, and fill 3-4in pots (7-10cm).

Make a hole in the compost with a dibber or your finger, then holding each plug by its root ball, place it into the hole and gently firm the compost around it.

For great results, we recommend using our Windowsill Planters or 9cm pots in Shuttle Trays.

Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry as they don�t like to be left in standing water.

Grow on either on a bright windowsill or a greenhouse for 3-4 weeks before potting up into containers or into flower beds.

If planting directly into flower beds when all risk of frost has passed, prepare the ground well, removing weeds and digging in some compost or well-rotted manure if your soil is not already rich.

Plant approx. 20cm (8�) apart to allow them room to grow. Feed using a high-potash feed such as Blooming Fast Superior Soluble Fertiliser for Flowers & Fruits, to encourage flowering.

Dead-head when flowers fade to encourage more blooms.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
