Sweet William 'Vesuvio' isn't just a spring bloomer, it's a brilliant, bold variety that kicks off in autumn, keeps going through the colder months, and then returns with gusto in spring.

The colours are simply stunning, in a bounty of shades, and every bloom has a lovely sweet scent reminiscent of traditional cottage gardens. It�s a joy to have by the patio, and even better when you cut a few for the house.

'Vesuvio' doesn't just look good. It's genuinely useful too. These flowers are a magnet for pollinators, and that makes it ideal for encouraging bees and butterflies when they're just getting active.

The plants stay compact and neat, so they're easy to tuck into borders or pots. And once established, they're hardy enough to shrug off most of what the weather can throw at them.

Care Information

Planting Advice:

Give your garden ready plants a little attention on arrival - unpack them immediately, and either mist them or stand them in water for an hour - they may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they�ll quickly recover. If you can�t do this, they can sit in Mini Greenhouses for a week if upright and not too wet.
We recommend that you leave them to settle for a day somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
Sweet Williams prefer light, well drained soil and full fun.
When planting directly into flower beds, prepare the ground well, removing weeds and digging in some compost or well-rotted manure if your soil is not already rich.
Plant about 30 cm (1 ft) apart to allow them room to grow. Feed using a high-potash feed such as Blooming Fast Superior Soluble Fertiliser for Flowers & Fruits, to encourage flowering.

Pruning Advice:

Prune plants back hard in midsummer if they become scruffy or floppy. Don't deadhead plants completely, leave some on to self-seed.
Plants are easily divided in early autumn or spring. Remove fading flowers to encourage more buds to form.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
