Description

Late-season gardens deserve more than a slow fade, and Aster 'Alpha' Mix keeps the colour coming when many summer plants are running out of steam. This early-flowering series produces masses of light pink, dark purple and white blooms from August to November, giving pots, borders, window boxes and hanging baskets a fresh burst of autumn energy.

The plants form naturally neat, rounded domes to around 30cm, so displays look full, tidy and beautifully shaped without pinching or staking. That makes this mix a brilliant choice for gardeners who want strong impact with very little maintenance.

'Alpha' Mix also offers strong resistance to powdery mildew, helping foliage stay cleaner and plants look healthier through the flowering season. Bees and butterflies will make a beeline for the blooms too, bringing welcome life and movement to the garden when nectar sources can start to run short.

Regular maintenance and watering are essential to grow fabulous containers that last the whole season.
Check and water containers every day in summer, (unless the compost is wet).

Care Information

Planting Advice:

Unpack plugs immediately and stand them in water for an hour.
Plugs may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they�ll quickly recover.
Put them somewhere warm, light and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
Plant straight into containers and grow on for a week or two before placing out.
Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry.
They don�t like to be left in standing water.
Plant approx. 20cm (8in) apart to allow them room to grow.
Feed using a high-potash feed such as Blooming Fast Superior Soluble Fertiliser for Flowers & Fruits, to encourage flowering.
Dead head when flowers fade to encourage more flowers.

Aftercare advice:

Aim to keep the compost moist but not soggy and avoid wetting the foliage and flowers.
From March to June, apply a general-purpose liquid fertiliser once a week.
Deadhead and trim your plants regularly to maintain shape and encourage new flowers.
Do not allow plants to set seed.

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
