A welcome guest to the garden when it is most needed! These delightful Hellebores combine single and double blooms, ruffled petals, speckles and beautiful colours, creating the kind of varied display many gardeners dream of, yet one that is remarkably easy to grow.

Flowering from February to April, these cup-shaped blooms may look dainty and delicate, but they are wonderfully hardy, standing up to rain, snow and winter weather while continuing to brighten the garden.

They bring valuable colour while many other plants are still slumbering and make excellent companions for spring-flowering bulbs.

The flowers also provide a useful source of nectar for early pollinators, including bumblebees emerging and searching for food.

Easy to grow, Hellebores gradually establish into attractive clumps that increase in size and flower power year after year, with mature plants potentially producing upwards of 50 blooms after around five years.

'Queen' varieties thrive in rich, well-drained soil in dappled shade, preferring moist, humus-rich conditions. They can also be grown successfully in pots where space is limited, just take care not to let the compost dry out during hot summer weather.

Supplied as a mix of six plug plants, ready to pot or plant out.

Top Tips

Remove the old leaves in late winter or early spring as the flower buds emerge so that the flowers can be seen.

Care Information

Plant in rich, well-drained soil in dappled shade and provide shelter from strong, cold winds.
Plants are not happy if left in very dry or waterlogged soil so incorporate plenty of well-rotted organic matter into the planting hole along with some horticultural grit if the soil is heavy.
Water regularly during dry spells and mulch annually with leaf mould, chipped bark, or other organic matter in autumn.

Planting Plugs:

Unpack plugs immediately and stand them in water for an hour.
Plugs may be slightly dry or yellow after being in a dark box in the post, but they�ll quickly recover.
Put them somewhere warm, light, and airy such as a windowsill or greenhouse.
Plant straight into containers and grow on for a week or two before placing out.
Give your plants a good water initially, then only when the top compost starts to dry. They don�t like to be left in standing water.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
