Description

If you're looking for a rose that offers drama, colour, fragrance and meaning, then you're going to love 'Jane Austen's Persuasion'.

The blooms are a rich, deep pink with hints of purple, growing in generous clusters of colour that come in wave after wave from June right through to autumn. Each flower is filled with a warm, spicy perfume that gives the whole plant a wonderfully uplifting presence in the garden. It’s the kind of rose you notice straight away, not just because of the colour, but because of the way it performs.

It's got plenty of practical strengths too. Compact, bushy and highly disease resistant, this rose keeps looking good without a lot of fuss. It slots neatly into mixed borders and is just as happy in a large patio container, giving you a reliable splash of colour exactly where you want it. If you like to pick flowers for the house, it holds well in a vase too.

Part of the Jane Austen Collection, and £2.50 from each sale goes directly to Jane Austen’s House (registered charity no. 1156458). So by growing it, you're supporting something truly special, the preservation of one of England's literary treasures.

Supplied as an established, freshly potted rose in a 4 litre pot, ready to plant.

We always endeavour to provide beautifully formed plants; however, our roses will naturally start to lose their leaves from October to prepare for the colder months. Do not worry though, as they will flourish once again with leaves and buds in the spring. Please, make sure you consider the season when purchasing our remarkable roses for yourself or loved ones.

Care Information
  • Roses can be planted at any time of the year, as long as the soil is not frozen, waterlogged or drought-dry. Plant your rose where it can get plenty of sun for at least half of the day, and where it will be sheltered from the wind.
  • Roses tolerate wide range of soils but thrive in deep, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil, so add plenty of well-rotted manure into the hole if necessary and plant so that the graft union (the swollen area when the stems meet the roots) is around 3cm below soil level. Water well every other day - daily if the weather is hot and dry.
  • Established roses can be watered around once a week through spring and summer - more if the weather is hot.
  • For best results, feed roses in in late-March/April and again late July.
