Description

An excellent Clematis collection offering yearly displays of big blooms from late spring to autumn's frosts. Clematis are the choice climbers for many experienced gardeners, and we’ve matched three exceptional varieties to offer as many months of summer flowers as possible.

Vigorous climber Clematis ‘The President’ begins May with rich violet purple-blue sepals, silver on the reverse, and pink and deep red stamens. Clematis ‘Madame Julia Correvon’ bursts to life from mid-summer to September with dark red star-shaped blooms. Finally, the 'late' bloomer Clematis 'Comtesse De Bouchard' produces mauve-pink petalled flowers with creamy yellow stamens from June until autumn is ready to begin.

Each variety grows at a good rate for yearly interest, just be sure to plant them somewhere they can ramble away – such as against an unsightly wall or an old tree stump!

What’s more, all three of these Clematis proudly hold the coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit, so offer assured garden performances, and are suitable for gardeners at every level of experience.

Supplied as a set of three established plants in 9cm pots, including one of each named variety, ready for planting.

Top Tips
Once new growth appears on each plant, pinch out young developing shoots to a lower bud to promote further branching.
Care Information
  • Feed in with a general-purpose feed, avoiding the stems.
  • Mulch immediately afterwards with organic matter such as well-rotted manure, leafmould, or garden compost.
  • Water regularly during periods of dry weather in the first few seasons after planting, especially for container plants. Clematis in pots should be given a liquid feed through the summer and early autumn.
  • Prune in late winter or early spring and again after the first flush of flowers to maintain a framework of old wood.
  • We recommend cutting your clematis back to 30cm the first spring after planting to encourage multiple stems which can then be tied it to create the framework for future growth.
