Description

Enjoy the elegance of an African Lily, but in a neater, more compact form with Agapanthus 'Pitchoune White'. This is a superb choice for patios, balconies, rockeries and the front of sunny borders.

The Pitchoune range has been specially grown for a naturally compact habit, while still producing the generous flower clusters and sturdy stems that make Agapanthus so desirable. Bright, strap-like evergreen foliage forms low, tidy clumps, creating a smart base even before the flowers appear. Then, in June and July, elegant blooms rise above the foliage, bringing a cool, refined summer display that looks especially good in pots and containers.

Use it to dress a sunny patio, brighten a balcony, edge a pathway, or add structure to a gravel garden or rockery. It also works brilliantly in mixed summer planting, where its clean, architectural shape helps softer flowers look even better.

Agapanthus love rich, well-drained soil and a sunny or lightly shaded position. Once established, they tolerate dry conditions well, making them useful for warmer patios and free-draining spots. Although hardy to around -5C, protect plants during the coldest winters with a thick autumn mulch, or move container-grown plants under cover when hard frosts threaten.

Top Tips

You will often get more flowers when the roots are restricted, so this is certainly a plant that does better in a pot, which also makes it easier to protect during the winter.

Care Information

Feed with a general-purpose fertiliser monthly from spring until flowering, then, from the end of September reduce watering and feeding to allow the foliage to harden.
In colder parts of the UK, cover the crown of the plant with a deep, dry mulch to protect the plants from hard frosts, or grow in a pot so they can be overwintered in an unheated greenhouse.

Delivery Information

Our experienced team at the nursery will always carefully package and send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive once you receive and plant them. Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
