Care Guide

Planting Advice:

• For pomegranate trees grown in containers, you will need around a 45L (10 gallon) container.
• Set the root ball into the pot and fill in around the roots with the soil to the top of the container but not covering the trunk.
• Water the new tree in well and lightly tap the soil down to eliminate any air pockets and to settle it around the roots.

Aftercare Advice:

• Pomegranates are self-pollinating, so you only need one to set fruit and will bear fruit from their second year onwards if kept happy.
• They need full sun to reach their best so keep outside where possible and if inside place near a bright, sunny window.
• If growing your pomegranate outside, keep an eye on the weather report and if the temperature drops below 40 degrees F. (4 C.), move the plant indoors to a sunny position.
• Water the tree deeply about once a week, more often during peak summer months, especially container-grown plants.
• During the first two years of the tree’s growth, feed with a general-purpose fertiliser in November, February, and May, and thereafter in November and February.
• Prune out any crossing branches or shoots to three to five per branch after the tree’s first year.
• Prune out any dead or damaged limbs in the late winter.
• Prune out suckers to create a more tree-like appearance.

Although most plants are extremely tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme of weather conditions, we always avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme frosts or heat is forecast. We also avoid dispatching orders over Bank Holiday weekends.

If you have ordered a 'pre-order' item, these will be sent out as soon as possible after the quoted dispatch date and we generally ship your entire order with any pre-ordered items. Once your order has been dispatched, we will send you an email with details on how you can track it.

We send most of our orders via a fully tracked courier service with Yodel. We will send you a tracking link as soon as your order has been dispatched. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, we will not require a signature on delivery, and we ask out couriers to leave your item in a safe place ad your delivery address.

If you have delivery instruction and require our courier to leave your item in a specific place, please let us know - there is an option to leave a message for the courier at the checkout.

For smaller and single-item orders, we may send these via the post with Royal Mail - Tracking will not be available for orders sent via this method.
